No stranger to the stage, Ms. White has received an Obie, Drama Desk, and Audelco Award for her role Off-Broadway in August Wilson’s Jitney and also starred in his final play, Radio Golf at The Huntington Theatre and the Goodman, as well as August Wilson’s 20th Century plays at the Kennedy Center. She was nominated twice in the same category as Best Lead Actress for an NAACP award in Two Trains Running at The Nate Holden and Of Equal Measure at The Kirk Douglas, recently winning forBest Ensemble of Stickfly at the Matrix. She received an Ovation and Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Ensemble of Stick Fly and Best Production of Two Trains Running. Ms. White also starred Off-Broadway in Susan-Lori Parks' production of Fucking A at The Public Theatre in New York with S. Epatha Merkerson, Bobby Cannavalli and Mos Def.
Also known for commercials, she currently has a Walgreens, USPS, Orville Reddenbaker, Aciphex, and a Cisco spot running.
Ms. White was submitted for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in Cop Shop with Richard Dreyfuss, Rosie Perez, and Rita Moreno and is proud to have worked with well renowned directors and writers such as the late and brilliant Sydney Lumet, Spike Lee, Ed Zwick, George Tillman, David Black, August Wilson, Susan-Lori Parks, Israel Hicks, Shirley Jo Finney, and Kenny Leon.
Most recently, Ms. White was a featured vocalist on the 2011 Daytime Emmy Awards for a tribute to veteran game show hosts, Pat Sajack (Wheel of Fortune) and Alex Trebeck (Jeopardy) and is currently in the film I Will Follow starring Salli Richardson- Whitfield, Blair Underwood, Beverly Todd, and Omari Hardwick.
